Meet Your Therapist

Courtney Howell, MSW, LMSW, LCSW (she/her)

Hi there! Let me share more about who I am and how I can support you. Starting therapy or any new journey of our lives can be difficult, so I am here to support you during this therapeutic process. My name is Courtney Howell, I am a LGBTQ+ affirmative, body positive, and non-traditional relationship affirming therapist. I try to help teens, adults, and couples find a place where they are accepted and comfortable.

I was born in Pittsburgh, PA and received my B.A. in Psychology at the California University of Pennsylvania in 2016. Following that, I earned my Master’s Degree in Social Work at the University of Georgia in 2019. On the journey to obtaining my clinicial license in social work, I have been passionate about learning, training, and becoming certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR). I enjoy providing empathic understanding for my clients, utilizing their strengths, and combining techniques from evidence-based practices and therapeutic models such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), and many more, to best match the person I am sitting with. Throughout my years of experience in social work I’ve worked in settings ranging from community-based mental health to medical facilities, crisis centers, to private practice.

When I am not working with and for my clients, I am spending time with my two dogs (Luke and Kita), friends, family, traveling, playing video games, reading, or hiking.
